Hi! We are Lizzy and Nick, the Co-Founders of Care Styling.

Honestly, this just started out as a class project for the both of us. We are both Bachelor of Business Administration graduates from Ambrose University and for an entrepreneurship course, we had to come up with a unique social enterprise to pitch in 90 seconds at the 2016 Lion’s Den Social Innovation Challenge during the Soul of the Next Economy Forum.
Having never done anything like this before, it was very daunting for the both of us to say the least. We went through the motions, and out of 30 other pitches on the roster, we were selected to be in the top 9! This put a little bit of cash in our pockets and allowed us to advance to Round 2 where we had to deliver a 3-minute pitch and do a 5-minute Q&A with a judging panel. It was at this point where we started to get even more excited about our idea. Round 2 of the Lion’s Den arrived, and nervous as we were once again, pitched and won the People’s Choice Award! (and a little bit more cash) At this point, we talked about how we could use all this money to go do something fun or we could put it towards this venture and actually do something about it.

During all our preparations for these pitches we did extensive research that kept reinforcing to us how we had stumbled upon a very real gap in mental illness prevention and realized that having a business like this in our society would be highly beneficial. To an extent, we felt responsible to our community to bring Care Styling to life. We made a decision to put our hearts into this and pursue it and see it come to fruition.
On March 1st, 2017 we launched a crowdfunding campaign with ATB BoostR to generate some start-up capital so we could do the necessary research and development for our curriculum and training program. After the 45 long and stressful days that our campaign was live, we are proud to say that we reached and exceeded our goal by raising over $10,000.

We are currently in the final validation stages and we are eager to see what the future holds in store for us. We are excited for you to join our movement by taking small steps to turn random acts of kindness into more intentional acts of kindness so that we can empower the everyday!
